Trouble shaking hands
In this week's Q&A, a handshake puzzle.
I am required to go out and meet people at events to secure new clients.
As soon as we shake hands, something changes and they suddenly seem much less receptive. When I meet clients in the office or people in other settings it doesn't seem to happen.
This seems like a puzzle. Without knowing your personality, it makes it a little tricky.
If it were happening all the time then a few tips on what makes a good firm handshake and you would be fine. As a reminder:
A decent, firm grip - but no pressure. A subtle but definite up down 'shake', not too high or low. Eye contact, smile and clear voice when you speak.
But I think something else might be happening here.
